The start of Summer speaks to me of SECRET DESIRES UNFURLING TO THE LIGHT. DEPTH. TREASURES. AND UNIMAGINABLE ABUNDANCE.

I’m on the Internet too much and I have seen many comments in the past few days from white folks saying they don’t know what to do. I made this specifically for you. It is in no way comprehensive but I am hoping it is a start on your Allyship journey. Some Black people may be willing to teach you, but please remember: it is not their job. There is so much more I could add here so I might make a part 2.

Dear friends, please hear me out on something.

Especially for those of you in the EU, or Belgium, like me. I know that there's an ocean between us and what is happening on US soil right now... but
Anti-racism IS the work you need to be doing right now.

Because each individually we are being asked to commit to new choices for our COLLECTIVE and individual future.
THIS IS A CHOICEPOINT.
(and yes, admittedly, there have been many these past years and more to come. But. Why would you wait?) It is up to you to sit with your own choice, and then to commit. If you want to leave this world (which will happen at some point) with the knowing that you have celebrated, and stood for, all lives + that you have advocated for equality and beauty and joy and love, regardless of skin colour or ethnicity or social class: then RIGHT NOW, the work that you are being invited into is to SEE COLOUR. (and yes, I'm saying this to all of us, including if you're spiritually awakened and can see us all as one gorgeous expression of divinity, or the divine experiencing itself through a multitude of perspectives)
Specifically, you're being invited to see and bear witness to the ways skin colour - being black, being brown, being indigenous, being non-white - has been an ADDITIONAL way in which human beings (all of whom are your brothers and sisters within the global human race) have been disadvantaged and treated MORE violently, MORE injustly than any of us inhabiting a white skin. (this is NOT to say there's no injustice when you're white. It means that race isn't working against you as an extra factor within the current systems.) This is true accross the continents. It's not just the white people in the US who need to be doing this work. It's in Australia, Sweden, the UK, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Greece, and every single other country and state - basically, everywhere people with different skin colours are trying to build communities together, and whiteness is centered in all the historic and contemporary systems and narratives.

It was early morning, a dreary day in winter, and

It was early morning, a dreary day in winter, and I didn't quite know what to do. The thought that came cirling back was this: I want to make a difference - but where do I even start? At the same time, my head felt confused, tired, spinning, and my entire body just plain hurt. My throat, my stomach, so much tension just everywhere. Unshed tears in my throat and burning behind my eyes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

That morning taught me two things: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
01. we teach from the trenches. Meaning, we are learning how to make a real difference - whilst feeling the fear, the overwhelm, the confusion. Whilst being stuck in the intensity of our own grief. While learning HOW to even grieve.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
02. to make a difference, we have to make choices. we have to focus, and act there. the overwhelm comes when we feel like we need to be everywhere, solving (or at least helping) with everything. for everyone. and that? that generally leads to nothing happening. we are paralyzed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
